We mow the grass. It grows back.
We have a beautiful, sunny day and the flowers look up at attention to wave at the birds in the air. However, too many sunny days and not any rain or watering will cause the flowers to shrivel up and die. They must have water.
My oldest son, Tanner started working on an art project at school and sent me a picture of it yesterday. When I opened the text message and seen the flower, I immediately thought of this verse:
“Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?” Luke 12:27-28
That grass comes back because that is how God designed it. We mow that yard religiously in the summer, because if we didn’t it would be an unruly mess and the neighbors would soon complain. We don’t cut the grass and then worry about whether we will have to cut it again…we prepare and plan our schedule around it.
It’s certain.
Same goes for those flowers. If everyday was a sunny day, the flowers wouldn’t make it. A steady, afternoon shower will give that flower the refreshment it needs to grow, keep blooming and providing food for the bees. We know that’s how nature works and we count on it to continue working on how God designed. We know those flowers may bloom for a season, but there is a period where the petals fall off and it will surely die.
If we can bank on the certainty of those things, why can we not count on the assurance that God is going to take care of us. He takes care of the grass and lilies, so He is more than capable of taking care of us and our problems. If we only had sunny days, we wouldn’t know the care of a loving God in the storms. We question…we worry…when God is always showing us His consistency and certainty. God is going to take care of His children.
You can’t cut down the love of God and blow it away like a freshly cut blade of grass. His love is always gonna be there, my friend. You can plan your day around that. He loves you more than the grass and the beautiful lilies. You are created in His image and and He wants nothing more than to see you bloom.
It’s certain.
