A corner of creativity and inspiration

Squirrel Crossing

Sunday morning during the pastor’s message he used the analogy of a squirrel in the middle of the road unable to move because he is paralyzed by fear and compared it to how the devil works in our lives. I had this mental picture of a squirrel standing still as a car is zooming towards her…but she is immobilized.

Disabled.

The devil is good at disabling us at times. He comes with the intent to put us in a state of panic.

But…

There is a God that is full of peace.

I know there have been so many times in my life that I have been in a state of panic and paralyzed by fear. I was doubting and deterred from living in the promises of my Father. I was focused on the lies of the enemy instead of trusting the truth of the friend I have in Jesus. Maybe you’ve been there, too? Maybe the enemy has you, like that squirrel in the middle of the road, in a state of panic. He has you afraid to go to right or to the left, because you don’t want to make the wrong choice and end up “squashed” under bad decisions.

Anytime I have been in that situation, I have opened up the Word of God and my panicked spirit is overwhelmed by peace…perfect peace. My problem may not go away or I may not be sure which way to go, but I just stand still and fix my eyes on Jesus. In doing that, the devil has to flee. He stops in his tracks and throws the car in reverse. You then have time to react in accordance with the will of the Father and you take each forward step with His guidance. You are no longer asking, “Where do I turn?” or “What do I do?”.

We are no longer tempted to listen, follow or act upon the lies thrown our way. Our escape is Jesus. He is our answer.

No longer disabled.

At peace.

“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God isfaithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13
