Discernment

I ain’t even gonna try to lie and tell you that I am not kinda tired of the back and forth in Job. The constant speeches and talk would be enough to make Job lose his patience if he was having to read it. Kidding…only kidding

But, the thing I love about God’s Word is that He always will reveal something to you through it. Today in Chapter 32, a dude by the name of Elihu gives a speech that he says “came from the Lord”.

(Insert rolling eyes here)

Sorry, but those words can irk me if not truthful. Have you ever met someone like that? That listens to everyone talk and then decides they have something profound to say like a prophet of old and claim that it came from God? Well, sometimes it does and we should listen, but how do we know for sure that it does? We must have discernment…the ability to judge whether something is from God or is not. How do we do that? Simply read His Word for yourself. Don’t just go on what a preacher says, a Sunday School teacher taught you or what your mama told you was the truth. Prayer and talking to God is important, too. Trust me, He will reveal to you what His will is and what is from Him and what is not. I can go ahead and tell you though…if it doesn’t line up with scripture…It isn’t His will. Sorry, not sorry.

Just because someone says they speak truth from the Lord, doesn’t mean that they do. There are several more speeches from this guy and I’m anxious to see what the “new guy” has to say. But after listening, don’t be afraid to put on your spiritual glasses and focus on the Word of God and what He has for YOU to hear and read…not just what someone told you. There is enough people pretending to be something they aren’t…let’s be authentic and discern for ourselves what “realness” looks like based on the Word of God.
