Unraveling Testimony

Read today in 1 Kings about Solomon and his love for many women/wives (after God specifically told him to avoid this). This was the same Solomon that in earlier chapters was praising God and praying for the hearts of the people to be devoted to God and here he is turning his devotion to lots of ladies! Then my “soul sista” Lysa gave a great analogy about an unraveling sweater is a lot like Solomon’s relationship AND our relationship with God. We start with a little snag of sin and then before we know it, we are grasping at strings and our lives are unraveling around us. When we aren’t knitting our mind with the Word of God and then going to Him in prayer daily, it is easy to see why our lives are frayed.

Pray that the Lord will reveal anything that holds our affection more than Him. And then let’s take the time to repair those seemingly small snags — the ones that can have devastating consequences — by going to God in repentance.

The minute we turn our hearts away from God is the minute our testimony begins to unravel.
