A corner of creativity and inspiration

Sleep in Peace

Even when David was ran out of his palace and feared for his life (his son Absalom being the ring leader), he was praising God. I would like to think I would be like that. When it seems all the world is against you and with each corner you turn the adversary is staring you in the face…it is hard to praise the Lord and find rest. I can remember how fearful I have been over the last few years about unchartered territory in my life, but each time I was scared, unsure or in distress, I called on Jesus. There in that turmoil, I found peace.

Often times, we forget to “let God be God” in our life. We feel like we have to do some work, fix something, make something happen…when really God is saying, “Dwell in my safety and sleep in my peace.” (Psalm 4:8). Pile up on that pillow of peace today. Rest in the promise that even though you are “dog tired” from fighting and maybe even running from your troubles, that God will give you a peace that surpasses all understanding and you are safe in His arms.

“In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.” -Psalm 4:8
