For years, my little Tucker took comfort in a blue security blanket. I often called him “Linus”, because he would drag it around wherever he went! It was his comfort. Eventually he gave it up (when he started school)…but whenever he pulls it out of the drawer he is instantly drawn to it and just snuggles up with it and shares with us about his “blue blankie”.
Now, I know those that follow my Facebook probably get tired of my “Jesus posts” and Bible journaling…(if you do, hit unfollow or unfriend…I promise I will be okay). But…all those drawings and words give me comfort. Just like Tucker (and Linus) with their blanket, God’s Word is my comfort. Jesus is my comfort. I’m drawn to Him each morning as I pull out my Bible. I want to be like Tucker and share the stories of God’s Word with you. Maybe something I say will draw you closer to Jesus…the ultimate security blanket. If you can “wrap up” in something that my feeble mind has shared, to get you thinking about how good God is…how cozy His grace feels…how warm His thoughts are toward you, His child…then my job is done. Yes, I use Facebook for so many things; work, sharing pics of my awesome kiddos, everyday life…but the most important thing I can do is tell you that Jesus loves you and you can take comfort in Him. Not just today with whatever trial you may be facing…but everyday! Each morning, what you see on my Facebook is intentional, prayerfully considered and comes from a heart that desires to serve Him in whatever capacity He has placed before me. I want to comfort you…because I have been comforted!
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
