If Jesus is the cornerstone of our faith, than He should be our foundation. In ancient times, the cornerstone was the starting point or the principal stone for which all of the masonry measurements and alignments were made on a structure. The cornerstone made sure that everything fit together right and was solid and steady. It’s the like the foundation of your house. If it isn’t level and solid…let a little rain come and your house will eventually develop a crack in the wall or your furniture will start sliding to one side of the house as one end sinks and settles due to an improper foundation.
Isn’t that like this world? We have built foundations on everything else except Jesus, the chief cornerstone. We got foundations of bank accounts, talents, jobs, people…oh the list does on and on. Those things are so shaky, aren’t they?
Stock markets crash.
Bank accounts dwindle.
Talents fade.
Jobs end.
People change.
Listen to me. Has God ever changed? Since the beginning of time, He has been consistent and constant in His ways. He is faithful and has always been a firm foundation in which to build your faith. The people of Israel had a foundation that offered provision in the wilderness by day and night. Abraham had a ram in the bush as provision for his altar of sacrifice. Ruth had provision in a wheat field of a kinsmen redeemer. You have provision in Christ on the cross and His resurrection that we celebrated yesterday! What are you saying, Ash?
Those provisions lays a foundation of faith that is steadfast and sure. Scripture says Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. That is something you CAN bank on, friend!
Jesus and His Word has stood the test of time.
His love never fails.
His mercy never ends.
His grace is immeasurable.
He does NOT change.
If you want to build your life on something, build it on faith in Jesus Christ. When a little rain comes, or the ground gets shaky you are standing on…you need a foundation that is solid. When you start making decisions about your life, take out the measuring rod and put it up next to Jesus and Who He is. If it doesn’t line up with scripture…don’t allow it in your life and definitely do not build upon it. Life fits together nicely when you walk in relationship with God and you don’t have to worry about cracks and sliding around aimlessly because of a shaky foundation. You will live above this world and sin will have no place in your life.
Thank you Lord for being my Rock, my chief Cornerstone, my Firm Foundation…my All-in-All! When we stand in You, we cannot be shaken!
