You know how one thing happening in your morning can make it good or bad? Well, I had something happen this morning that just blessed my heart and made me say to myself, “It is gonna be a good day!”
Normally, I only notice these perfectly-coifed mamas with a full face of makeup in the drop-off lines. They look great and make me wish I had their kind of energy at 6 am. I’ve embraced the fact that unless I have somewhere to be at 8am (which is very rare), I won’t look like that in the mornings. But today, another mama caught my eye…
Sitting at the traffic light outside the school, I see a mama rocking a fur-collared bathrobe in her white mini-van. I can almost guarantee she had some coffee or sweet tea in the cup holder and slippers on her feet. She was talking to her high-schooler and smiling with her hair up in a messy bun. Now, she can’t see in my windows, because of the tint…but our eyes met for a split second and I smiled ‘cause she is my soul sister and didn’t even know it. I wanted to roll down my window and yell, “I love you girl…and you killin’ it as a mama!”
As I turned to go back home to get dressed for my day, I took a sip of coffee in my tacky morning ensemble and embraced the fact that it’s okay to be either way.
Embrace the bathrobe sometimes.
Embrace the makeup sometimes.
But ALWAYS embrace yourself and embrace the Creator Who made you exactly the way you are!
No matter what your wardrobe looks like on this sunny, Friday morning, make sure you are clothed in love and kindness. Do not forget as child of God, you have been clothed in a robe of righteousness.
Wear it proudly…
…even with it’s fur collar and bedroom slippers.
Whether you are in your bathrobe, business suit or a ball of mismatched madness…you’re gonna be killin’ it today, mama!
