Yesterday was one of those days. The one where you wake up with anxiety already pressing on your chest. We had a scare with my mom and then all day I was focused on social media, social distancing, conspiracy theories and fake news. Before we went to bed, I told Kevin that my spirit was so heavy and I needed truth and Word in me before I could possibly go to sleep. I rolled over and just pulled up my Bible app on my phone and clicked on the little box that said, “when you need peace”.
It was the first one…God knew I would find myself here. I clicked that little button and here is the first scripture that came up…Philippians 4:6-8 (TPT).
“Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell him every detail of your life, then God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding, will make the answers known to you through Jesus Christ. So keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always.”
If you have been pulled in different directions like I was yesterday…worrying and listening to everything except The Truth, then turn around and go to The Word. My thoughts yesterday were fixed on so much garbage…but today I am fastening my thoughts on Him. God’s peace is far above our understanding and is so rich, when we are saturated in prayer.
Thank you Lord for the subtle reminder that You know me, You love me and Your greatest desire is to fellowship with me. When that fellowship is broken (if only for a few hours), I slowly begin to hear whispers of doubt and fear that penetrate my spirit and before I know it…running in different directions.
Lord, You are NOT a God of social distancing…You desire closeness to me.
Lord, we will NOT find Your will scrolling through social media, but by flipping the pages of Your Word.
Lord, there is NOTHING about you fake…You are real as the air I breathe.
Lord, you are ALWAYS faithful.
