Fancy, new Easter clothes ❌
Easter baskets and money wasted on stuff they didn’t need ❌
Dying eggs ❌
Fluff and nonsense ❌
As a mama, I think we put a lot of pressure to make sure we have everything in order for the “perfect” Easter. The outfits, baskets , dying eggs and even cooking a delicious lunch with family. This year, there isn’t any of that.
We slept in a little longer. I’m still sitting in my pajamas drinking my second cup of coffee and we are going to have breakfast for lunch. The kids are quietly spending time in their rooms and the house is quiet. Last night while the husband was fishing, I piled up on the couch, watched movies until I fell asleep (for more hours that I would like to admit), instead of finishing up shopping all over town for perfect new Easter clothes.
I don’t know about you, but I like Easter with everything stripped away except the raw, realness and resurrection of my Savior. When you feel empty from lack of the “fluff”, it’s so much easier to focus on the fullness that came with an empty tomb!
We fill our lives with so much unnecessary stuff that the necessity of our Savior becomes unimportant in our daily lives and routine. Let us not forget that our Savior is alive today and desires a relationship with us that is not based upon pomp and circumstance…but one that real, raw, unfiltered and stripped down to honoring Him first.
Everything else is just fluff.
