Ever woke up with sunshine peeking through the break in your curtains and feeling the warmth from the glow on your face? You hop out of bed, fix your coffee and see the dry, parched grass through your kitchen window.
There hasn’t been rain in weeks…probably close to a month. When you walk to the door and stick out your arm to gauge your outfit for the day (I know I’m not the only person that does that), you are met with heat off the hot driveway. There isn’t a cloud in the sky. Only the scorching sun beating down on the asphalt that makes up the road just beyond your withered yard.
You come back inside and stare at your closet…the flowing dresses, the tank tops and shorts. Yet, your spirit prompts you to pull out pants, your raincoat, those squeaky rain boots and your umbrella.
Rain is coming.
You walk outside, pop open the umbrella and wait for the first drop to fall with anticipation and expecting a downpour at any moment. The sun is shining, the neighbors are staring at you…but you are not moved. You stand there with a smile and know the cold, refreshing rain is coming. You are expecting to be soaked with a blessing just as much as your plants will soak up the much needed rain.
That, my friends is faith.
Start today, and everyday…expecting a blessing from the Lord. Open up your faith umbrella, even when the sun is shining.
“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1
