“But I will look to the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation. My God will hear me.” Micah 7:7
In the 6 verses before, Micah is saying that we can’t look to everyone else to help us. Godly people were no where to be found at the time Micah was delivering this message. Unfortunately, I feel that we are living in this day, too. We have forgotten to simply do what the Lord commanded in Micah 6, which is to act justly (to do what is right), love faithfulness (unfailing love), and to walk humbly with our God (recognize our position of lowliness). What if everyone just did what was right, loved faithfully and humbled ourselves? This world would be changed dramatically. We want to look to everyone else for what is popular, what is right or what is acceptable instead of opening the pages of the Bible to see what God says about things. We make our own decisions instead of consulting with the Father because we feel that we won’t meet society’s standard…which is ever changing. Why not try something that doesn’t change? God.
Don’t have peace? Look to the Lord.
Don’t have hope? Look to the Lord.
Don’t know what to do? Look to the Lord.
Just as God was faithful to His people all those years ago, He continues to be faithful today.
If I got nothing out of the book of Micah, it is that God must change our hearts or sin will continue to triumph in our lives. Public worship, private worship and our way of life must all line up according to the Word of God. Any vain outward attempts to appear holy mean nothing if we don’t have a humbled heart tuned to Jesus.
