A corner of creativity and inspiration

My Shepherd

I spent a lot of time in John about this time a couple of years ago during a Bible Study and now in my personal time I am going back through and I am finding new thoughts and words from God to go along with old drawings! I love that you could read the same scripture everyday and get something new from it each time you read it! That’s how you know the Word is active, living and God-inspires. This isn’t just another “good book” on the reading list.

I already knew how Jesus called Himself the Good Shepherd and that He is the door…the only way to the Father. But as I was re-reading, I focused on the part about hearing God. Sheep know the sound of their Shepherd. How can we distinguish His voice from all the others around us? If you don’t talk to someone, you never know what their voice sounds like. What kind of friendship would you have with your best friends if you never talked to them? Same thing goes for God. If we aren’t communicating to Him through prayer and worship in our daily life, then how are we supposed to know His voice? If He has called you to Him, but you are busy in the field doing what sheep do (cause it’s so easy to stray), just stop and take minute to tune your ears to the Shepherd’s voice. It’s undeniable. And the closer we get to Him, the louder His voice will become. When you reach His arms, you can lean in close because just a whisper will do! Thats what friends do…the best conversations happen when two, little girls are whispering together with their hands cupped at their mouth and ears! That’s what Jesus wants with us. Not just lip-service…the intimate details of our lives shared with Him! I can assure you, when He responds back, you will know it is your Shepherd…the next step is just to follow.

John 10:27
“My sheep hear my voice, I know them, and they follow me.”
