We all need help. But if you are like me, you just can’t stand asking for help. I’m not quite sure why for me…maybe it’s because I’m a control freak and I feel like no one can do it better than me…and if something doesn’t go as planned, I can only blame myself.
When I was reading in Psalm 72 this morning, I couldn’t help but be drawn to verses 12 and 13 as the writer (believed to be Solomon) talked about a king delivering the needy…the poor…the weak. Unfortunately, even though we don’t want to admit it, that is us. We are all the above. We can’t do anything without God. He is our King, our friend and our Savior. When we are in need, if we will just go to Him in prayer, He is able to deliver us from the streets of despair.
Just ask….beg if you have to…
Fall at his feet and hold your cardboard sign of humility and need for His help. When we are too proud and confident in our own abilities, we end up with spiritual scraps…’cause we don’t have the abilities of God. We fall short every time. Wonder why you feel like you always come up short? Always feel like you can’t get ahead? Re-evaluate how much you are relying on God versus yourself. I have learned that it is okay to ask for help from the Lord, but also from those that God has placed in my life. He wants that kind of relationship with me.
I know there is something that you need to let God help you with today. My Bible says that we serve a King that has the character displayed in these verses and He is okay with you begging for help…it shows your dependence and trust in Him. Dont be afraid to carry your junk from the street into the King’s palace. Don’t continue to bear the weight of this past week into the weekend. God is there to help…don’t be too proud to beg!
