I think we forget that if we are going to call ourselves “believers” and/or “Christians” that we have to look a little different and act a little different. Not just a little bit, either. We have to look completely different…
Transformed.
Renewed.
Radical.
Last night we were in a different scripture at church, but there was a statement in my study Bible that jumped out at me. It said, “To follow Jesus means a radical transfer of your loyalty.”
Radical means extreme or going beyond moderation. Wow.
This morning as I was reading about the letter Paul wrote to Philemon, I couldn’t help but focus on verse 7…”For I have derived much joy and comfort from your love, my brother, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed by you.”
Now, last night we were talking about not laying down our faith, because someone needs us…someone needs to hear it. Don’t lay down the hope God has placed in your life…lay The Word to it and keep moving forward in faith. Before church, I had a message from a friend that I haven’t seen in over 20 years, other than through social media. She is struggling and she said that her mind always would come back to me, so she sent me a little bit of where her head was at and asked for scripture to help her. Now, I’m not saying that to brag…but God laid on my heart several years to post devotions online. I’ve been told I’m not qualified and I am wasting my time. I don’t post them to show how great I can draw (cause trust me, there are better Bible journaling pages you can follow), or to say that I know everything about God…but I know where He has brought me from and I am confident that He is going to use it to help someone…refresh their soul, maybe. I messaged this person back with some scriptures and promised to send her a Bible verse every morning via text to help her. I pray God uses something I say to help her and then she can pay it forward to someone else. That’s why I am here….I could be cleaning my house, doing laundry or working on something for the studio…but my loyalty to God goes above moderation. I am sure people get tired of seeing these devotions, but we are called to be refreshing, like sitting on the beach, sipping fresh coconut water right from the shell with a cute umbrella and a flower in our hair. You know how good that would feel to just soak in the sun and relax listening to waves? That’s how we should be as believers. We should be refreshing and bring joy to the unbeliever and believer alike! We should look so relaxed in our walk with God that it draws others to pull up a chair and sit beside us and drink from The Living Water! It’s not about us, it’s all about God…soaking up The Son! I’m not posting these for any reason other than stepping out in faith on what God has called me to do.
Share Jesus today with someone. If God has called you to do something, do it! Someone is depending on you…they need the refreshing of the Lord through YOU!
*Maybe you need a scripture every morning through text? If so, send me your phone number (via messenger) if I don’t have it and I will add you and then you can send it to someone, too! See how that works?!?!
