Psalm Pillow Talk

I was reading in Psalm 149 tonight and I absolutely love verse 5! It says:

“Let the godly exalt in glory; let them sing for joy on their beds.”

I got this image in my head of just jumping on my bed praising God for how marvelous He is to me! Now, I can’t literally jump on my bed, cause my bed might not hold all of me, but I can get it drawn to remind me that we have so much to praise God for that we could praise Him 24/7 and it still wouldn’t be enough!

I know it’s not easy to praise God after you have been crying into your pillow, but when we praise Him in the moments when our spirit is weak and we feel like we don’t have a song to sing, we see a shift in our mood and our heart is tuned to our blessings and not our burdens! Sometimes we have to sing a new song to the Lord (verse 1) because we gain a fresh awareness of His mercy, grace and love when we choose to praise Him in our pain!

Jumping on the bed as a kid always felt so freeing and made me feel light as a feather when you fell down on the soft pillows and sink into the mattress. Well, good news is we can get that same feeling by praising the Lord! You are free, the weight of your problems are cast upon His shoulders and you can sink into your pillow and fall asleep under the cover of His wings!
