In Proverbs 3 we see the benefits of wisdom. The gifts and blessings for those who find wisdom and gets understanding. I liked Matthew Henry’s quote about verses 17 and I chose to focus on that today as I was meditating on His Word. He said:
“Wisdom is represented as a bright and bountiful queen, reaching forth gifts to her faithful and loving subjects, and offering them to all that will submit to her government.”
I can just picture “Queen Wisdom” with her arms outstretched in front of her saying, “My kingdom is open to all those that choose to accept it. All the gold, silver and jewels are yours for the taking.” She is sharing with her people, because they have chosen to submit to her. We all know that the King and Queen take care of everyone in the castle…from the lowest to the highest. They get to share in the benefits bestowed upon the rulers, only because they choose to submit to the authority that has been placed before them.
My goodness! That is My God! He has His arms outstretched, ready to hand you His Kingdom on a silver platter, if you submit to His authority. We want blessings, but we refuse to follow God. God has blessed you tremendously, but you refuse to cross the moat into the castle because you have to leave things behind that are keeping you from growing in wisdom. You can’t get the blessings of your God outside the castle. Reap the benefits of being under the authority of the Lord!
Verses 16-18 say, “Long life is in her (Queen Wisdom) right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her; those who hold her fast are called blessed.”
There you have it! You want all that? Seek Wisdom! How do I do that?
Seek God.
Seek Him through Bible study, prayer and worship. He has let down the drawbridge and is waiting to bestow upon you all the riches of His Kingdom!
