Yesterday, I was in a Kindergarten classroom working on some poem posters that the students would be using in the next month and one particular poem was about Peter Cottontail. On the poster, the teacher likes to add a visual to go along with the poem to help them remember it as they learn, so I guess that’s why I got recruited, maybe.
As I was drawing at one of tables the kids use during centers, they were coming up and saying, “I know who that is!” Or they would say, “That’s Peter Rabbit!” I even heard one kid say, “I seen that movie!” Often times when I am drawing, I am listening. Yesterday, maybe a little to the kiddos as they walked by chattering, but I am often listening for a little whisper from God.
God wants us to come to Him with childlike faith, right? He wants us to be like those kindergarteners with Peter Rabbit yesterday. If we seen the hand of God in our life, would we recognize It? If we heard Him whisper, would our ears be tuned into Him or distracted by everything else around us? When that one child exclaimed, “I know who that is!”, it was because there are commercials and billboards flooded with Peter Rabbit right now because of the new movie. It was familiar to him, because He has seen all that stuff. How familiar are we with Jesus? Do we study His Word, do we talk to Him daily? Maybe that’s why at times we can’t see Him working because He hasn’t flooded or saturated every part of our lives.
