Shipwrecked

Sunday morning the pastor made a reference to 1 Timothy 1:19 about Hymenaeus and Alexander being shipwrecked in their faith. When he said it, I tagged my Bible so I could go back and read a little more on them, because I like the analogy. I feel like I have been shipwrecked in my walk with Christ many times and trying to clean up the wreckage of my life’s shore.

It doesn’t say what they did, but apparently they loved sin more than they loved keeping the faith and having a good conscience. I know I have been there…tossed by the waves of indecision and doubt…not knowing what God wants for me because I refuse to seek His counsel, stay in his Word and pray constantly for His wisdom. I have learned that you can’t stay on course (and you will end up shipwrecked) without each of these. They all work together…seeking God, listening to God, hearing God and following through with what He asks of us! You can just put up the sails on your boat and expect to get where you want…you have to steer those sails and be watching the map.

I feel like God is saying to me, “Don’t just float along, my child. Let Me stand with you at the helm and guide you. Let Me show you where you need to be. You aren’t on this boat for a leisurely cruise, but to fight a battle against Satan. He attacks you because you are focused on Me! Don’t lose focus of the “promised land” that is just in sight. Keep that faith that you have been clinging to…I haven’t left you without provisions before and I am going to guide you safely to shore. Honoring Me in all areas of your life will keep you anchored in your faith and tied safely to me…Your Rock. Don’t let the things in the water around you be a distraction…don’t be like Peter (Matthew 14)…keep your eyes on Me.
