I’m a shoe lover.
High heels, sneakers, flip flops, cowboy boots…and my closet is a testimony to my love for shoes!
Some shoes are more aesthetically pleasing than others, but they serve the purpose of protecting my feet and making me socially acceptable in public establishments. 😉 Some shoes I wear more than others because of the comfort they provide, but then there are others that are far from comfortable, but they are so pretty you can’t help but suffer through the day because they just make you feel great on the inside and no other shoes will do when you wear “that” outfit!
Today I started the next section of my study on the Armor of God and the “shoes of peace”. When I think of peace, the words of calmness, order, no arguments come to mind…but God wants us to understand that peace means stability. Emotional footing.
Wow.
For years I struggled with emotional footing. Yes, I was saved…but I let commotion and chaos follow me because I refused to put on shoes of peace. Usually peace and a redneck girl from Mayo don’t go together.
The enemy will wreak havoc all around you trying to destroy the footing that you have in God’s Word and promises. He wants nothing more to swallow you whole and discouraged you. A life without peace is simply unprotected, crippled, unable to move forward, hindered from maturing and developing in a healthy fashion.
As I have grown in Christ, I have learned more patience, which breeds so much peace. I have also realized that I am quite like my high heels…unstable or as some might say high-strung (easily excited or temperamental), but I have found that when I surround myself with those sneaker-wearing, stable and calm friends and most importantly the stability of peace found in Jesus, I develop a fashion sense like no other! I may not be in style with what the world says I should be, but I am leaving God-sized footprints of peace with each step I take! Not too mention, just like those pretty shoes in the closet…peace makes you feel so amazing on the inside!
