I don’t know what it is with the bars of soap in my kids bathroom. There is one on the sink that my oldest uses to wash his face and it is rolled into a perfect little ball in the soap dish. Then, just yesterday I seen the bar of Irish Spring in the shower swelled and a little mushy because it has been left in the bottom of the tub for water to repeatedly fall on it.
Sigh.
I don’t understand it. They dirty. The should just use the soap I give them…but it’s usually manipulated, disregarded and probably at times ignored while they are supposed to be focused on getting clean. They choose to probably stay a little dirty behind the ears sometimes.
Boys will be boys, I suppose.
Well, if boys will be boys, then it is safe to say that people will be people when it comes to their relationship or lack of relationship with God. They know right from wrong and they have a choice whether they want to be clean or dirty.
As Christians, sometimes we don’t understand people that aren’t believers and we love talking about other’s dirt. We love to tell people how they should be focused on getting clean…or at least that’s our thought, right?
We see their dirt.
Guess what? They do, too if they stay around a Christian long enough. You don’t need to tell them.
Lost people don’t need you to point out their dirt. They just need you to love them in their mess and provide the soap. It is not your job to clean them up. You point them to the shower of grace and give them the soap that IS the blood of Jesus. He takes care of the washing.
They can disregard The Gospel.
They can manipulate the scriptures.
They can ignore the presence of God around them…
…but they can’t deny the power in the blood when it washes over them!
It matters how you interact with a person that doesn’t know Christ. You can point out their mess…point out their dirt, or you can point them to The Savior.
Let the sweet aroma of our relationship with Christ encourage others to be clean. Let’s love people in their mess…and let Jesus clean up their mess!
