Taking the kids to school this morning and this song came on…it’s on of my favorites, but it brought me back to this drawing in my Bible from several years ago…at least five, I would say. I had drawn this at a time in my life that was nothing short of chaos. Here’s a little bit of the words…
‘Cause even in the madness
There is peace
Drowning out the voices all around me
Through all of this chaos
You are writing a symphony
A symphony
And even in the madness
There is peace
Drowning out the voices all around me
Through all of this chaos
You are writing a symphony
A symphony
Now, I immediately thought about King David as I was driving back home to finish curling my hair so I could get to work bright and early. As much as David was anointed by God and a man after God’s own heart, he found himself at a place of chaos. Running from Saul, aligning with the Philistines and for all intents and purposes, living a lie. His actions in 1 Samuel had contradicted the calling and instructions that God had placed over his life. David had sort of fallen, I suppose. He was in a place of chaos maybe in his brain instead of the peace of God that so closely surrounded him. Now, that’s just my interpretation, but you read the life of David and make a determination for yourself.
I think a lot of Christians are like David this morning. Surrounded by the knowledge and peace of Jesus, but operating in a state of chaos, because at this time it seems to make sense. This world is absolutely in a state of chaos. It’s apparent if you have any sort of common sense. It’s not about political party lines, Supreme Court nominations or racial upheaval.
It’s about good versus evil.
It’s always been that way folks, but I believe the spiritual eyes of believers in Christ have been opened in a way they never have. Let’s not forget that God is still on the throne and in the midst of this chaos, he is orchestrating ALL things for our good and His glory. It is our job to stay in harmony with the Father and allow the melody of our hearts to synchronize with the symphony of His will for our lives. Don’t get caught up in the chaos that you see on your social media feed or the news channels. Focus on the peace that is your Heavenly Father.
Just as He did with David…God will always make a way of escape when you are centered in His Word and His Will. In the chaos, His hand may seem unrecognizable and we may not want to accept His sovereign plan, but know that it is for your good, friend.
I can sit here this morning on the other side of chaos thanking Him…because I know that The Lord of the universe composes some of the most beautiful music out of chaos.
