“So if you know of an opportunity to do the right thing today, yet you refrain from doing it, you’re guilty of sin.”
James 4:17 TPT
Yesterday while quickly scrolling through social media, I managed to see a video of a lady that was clearly not in her right mind walking naked along the side of the road. I also seen a video from a convenience store security camera that shows the same lady in the store…also completed naked. Folks decided that it would be a good idea to film this lady and then post it on social media. When I seen it yesterday it was up to over 1500 shares and hundreds of comments within a few hours.
As I was reading in James this morning, I couldn’t help but think of this woman. My heart breaks for her. Honestly, to the point that I am sitting here with tears in my eyes at the thought of her coming to her senses and seeing herself that way. Maybe she doesn’t care, but WE (as a people) should. I know this may make some people mad, but why didn’t someone make an effort to stop their car and help her?
Offer her to sit in their car until you called the police or something?
That would have been the right thing to do.
(I don’t know how I would have reacted in that moment, but I would have definitely not chose to film her and make her out to be a joke.)
Listen, I don’t always make the best choices and I am not trying to sound preachy, but this world is ridiculous. We enjoy humiliating others and parading everyone’s faults in the internet for the world to see. We know that we shouldn’t do some of the things that we do, but instead we will hit the share button on someone’s child, someone’s mother or wife and not care how it affects that person. Its not just with social media…it’s with everything that we do on a daily basis. It’s like we boast in evil and laugh in the face of God.
It’s easy to do the wrong thing…and even harder to stand up against the wrong. But, let’s make an effort to be different. Let’s stand up against those things that don’t encourage someone (whether we know them or not) and show the love of a Jesus to the poor, widows, children, drug addicts, homeless and those that don’t have it all together like we “think” we do.
We know what IS right. If you don’t, read God’s Word.
Then DO it.
It’s about DOING what we know we SHOULD do, even when it isn’t popular.
The RIGHT way is always the right way!
